  Our Missionary Families

 

1)      Dr. Daniel and Dr. Carole Adams – Hanil University – Conju, Korea

They both teach at the University and Seminary.  In formal and informal ways they teach theology, English and graduate level courses.  Carol is a professor of Christian Education and Daniel is a theology professor.  They work in cooperation with the Presbyterian Church of Korea.  We have recently sent a $3,000 scholarship in honor of Ginger Service to the Adams for a student of their choice.  We were able to send this gift through the means of our Endowment Fund. 2)      Dr. Larry & Inge Sthreshley ~ Medical Mission in Central and West Africa.  Dr Sthreshley is a medical consultant to hospitals in a large region.  Larry is spending time in East Africa working for SANRU. In the summer of 2002 Larry and Inge Sthreshley returned to the Congo to take up a new assignment with the Presbyterian Community of Congo (CPC) and SANRU (the Programme de Santé Rurale, or Rural Health Program). Larry serves as a health consultant assisting in the development of health ministries strategies and analyzing the effectiveness of health service delivery systems. Both Larry and Inge were born and grew up in the Congo, which was known then as the Belgian Congo. Inge is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu, and Larry is an affiliate member there. His primary membership is with Robertson Presbyterian Chapel in Bear Grass, North Carolina.

3)      Alice Winters ~ Columbia, South America  --- Alice was recently in the States for 10 days visiting her mother and the PCUSA Columbia Network.
     The Rev. Alice Winters teaches Bible and biblical languages in the School of Theology of the Reformed University of Colombia. She is also on the editorial council of RIBLA (acronym in Spanish for the Journal of Latin American Biblical Studies), and participates in ecumenical Bible study programs for the Latin American Society of Biblical Scholars. She has translated several Old and New Testament textbooks into Spanish and has numerous publications in Spanish and English in the areas of biblical studies and mission. She has been under appointment since she was commissioned in 1977. See current news from Alice Winters.
